Loss of control The effect of change on an organization can reduce the level of control that managers have to control employees. Managers may resist change if it means to diminish even more control over their employees. Now that we have a technology-based business world, the ever-changing global economy is a normal state of business conditioning for organizations. The national environment, economy, social and political conditions are all common factors that influence an organization. Conflict in different expectations or goals can exist among members of an organization that make avoiding conflict difficult. This can cause a simple disagreement to blow up into a serious issue. Organizations run smoother and employees can adapt to changes when controls are left in place. Power shifts and power grabs bring resistance and loss of control. 2. Uncertainty about future The less that people know about change and its impact on them, the more fearful they will become. An organization needs to be prepared for leading change, not by springing surprises (Tanner, 2020). One thing that we can see, especially now, is how a global economy can weaken because of widespread sense of uncertainty. How a small virus outbreak that was not contained and how the world was caught unprepared, blinded the globe with uncertainty and widespread fear and economic hardship. There are many factors that can change the course of human events in our country at any time. War and conflict with nations brings change outside of the nation as well as inside the nation. Political change and outcome of elections set the path for what changes could lie ahead for the nation. There are people who fear change and people who welcome and embrace it. Because of beliefs, competencies, and set structures, some people fight change or may work against change which can alter a successful future and create uncertainty. An organization must learn to listen to each other and try different thing and embrace change in order to keep up with the times. Transparency and communication are essential within any organization. A solid group of employees is a good foundation. Not communicating with your employees weakens that foundation.
